Reckitt Hong Kong Wellness in Action Index crowned Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year Award
The company stepped up to drive positive change amidst the global pandemic by guiding citizens to take action on their physical, mental, and social wellbeing.
The Hong Kong community has been fighting for their health and safety since the global pandemic in early 2020.
Reckitt, with its purpose to protect, heal, and nurture in the relentless pursuit of a cleaner and healthier world, believes that access to the highest-quality hygiene, wellness, and nourishment is a right, not a privilege.
In the survey the company conducted, results showed a significant drop in satisfaction level of their social, mental, and physical wellbeing at 58%, 39%, and 18%, respectively.
As the pioneer in the FMCG industry in Hong Kong, Reckitt launched the first ‘Hong Kong Wellness in Action Index’ to support the community in embarking on their wellness journey and starting a healthier lifestyle towards the new normal in the year 2021.
Referencing the World Health Organisation’s definition on health – as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease of infirmity. Staying healthy is not only a personal choice, but the best gift to our loved ones, the project advocated.
The company surveyed over 1,800 citizens across different stages of life to understand local citizens’ levels of satisfaction on their physical, mental, and social wellbeing, as well as their practices in building health habits.
Healthcare alliance formed by professionals of physiotherapist, psychiatric, clinical psychologist, and social worker joined Reckitt to analyse the survey results, and formed a whole slew of ‘Wellness Lifehacks’ that were tailored for different needs of building healthier lifestyle, embracing changes and improving relationships, for individuals, couples, and parents.
Teamed up with Reckitt and its most recognisable and trusted consumer brands in hygiene, health, and nutrition—Dettol, Durex, Mead Johnson Nutrition, and Move Free, it amplified the call and reached targeted audiences on social channels across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
For this effort, Reckitt Benckiser Hong Kong Limited received the Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year - Hong Kong award in the recently concluded FMCG Asia Awards hosted by Retail Asia.
“Reckitt was able to impress the judges with its data-driven and timely initiative that makes a positive impact to the local citizens, the country’s research and development, and the personal and healthcare industry,” Retail Asia Editor-in-Chief, Tim Charlton said.
“More than ever, now’s the time to consciously live a healthy lifestyle. Reckitt led the way through its Hong Kong Wellness in Action Index, not only by collating and analysing insights, but also enjoining other industry leaders and healthcare experts to work together as one,” he added.
The awards programme celebrates the most outstanding companies in Asia Pacific's FMCG industry that have shown exemplary performance with their innovative products and initiatives.
Reckitt believes that it is essential to remind the public of the importance of health and hygiene protection and how to sustain their healthy lifestyle during the post pandemic era.
It aims to continue leading the industry, advocating healthy lifestyle, and protecting and supporting the Hong Kong community in the new normal.
In early 2022, Reckitt will launch the updates of the Index to reveal the latest results on selected health topics.
